Block Printing - Halloween Edition

Service Description

Welcome to Caleigh Bird's Halloween Printing Workshop! Spooky season is just around the corner... Let’s create some useful prints to celebrate everyone’s favorite dark holiday! In this class we will do a combination of block printing from provided pre-carved blocks, as well as the opportunity to carve your own Halloween-themed stamps. Reference art will be available to use, or feel free to bring or come up with your very own designs. Each attendee will get the option to print on and take home two 100% cotton tea towels or tote bags, which will be fully usable for years to come! Ages 16+ are welcome. Caleigh Bird was born in Toronto in 1984 and raised in historic Charleston, SC. She is a contemporary figure and portrait artist whose artistic journey began under the encouraging influence of her family. Engaging in extra-curricular artistic pursuits from an early age, she delved into traditional figurative techniques and life drawing as a young teenager. Caleigh earned her Bachelors Degree in Studio Art from the College Of Charleston and later pursued a Masters Degree in Studio Art at USC in Columbia, SC. With experiences at atelier programs in Florence, Italy, and Argenton-Chateau, France, as well as international travels and museum visits, Caleigh's art has evolved into 3-dimensional figurative oil paintings using resin and natural found objects from her travels. Settling in O'ahu, Hawai’i in 2015, the island's landscapes and cultural diversity continue to influence her work. Caleigh joyfully contributes to the Illustration Department at Nossi and to the Knot and Needle.
