Intro to Kinusaiga
No-Sew Japanese Patchwork Art
Service Description
Kinusaiga, meaning "silk-wrapped picture," traditionally uses carved wood and kimono fabric. The fabric is wrapped around a carved wood or foam base to create patchwork pictures, often depicting landscapes. Using a mix of patterns, colors, and textures creates visual interest, and the design possibilities are endless. And no sewing is involved! In this 2.5 hour workshop, we will be using craft knives and scissors, cutting and applying fabrics to a sticky foam base to create a unique ready-to-hang artwork featuring Lookout Mountain. All materials are included in the class fee. Ages 16+ are welcome.
