
Intro to Mending - Sashiko
with the Yarn Adventure Truck!
Service Description
Tiny snags in your favorite sweater? Rips in your jeans? Toes showing up through your socks? Mending to the rescue! In the past few years, there has been a resurgence of learning repair and mending techniques to slow down your fashion and help clothing last longer. The 2020s in particular have been encouraging of using patches and visible mending to extend the life of clothing you love. We’ll be learning darning techniques and the basics of sashiko (the Japanese art of tiny stitches) to expand our options for how to repair different fabrics. Duration: 2 hours Materials (Included): Sashiko thread, transfer sheets, Sashiko needles, darning tool, tapestry needle, fabric squares, stitch markers, embroidery floss, stabilizer/interfacing Prerequisites: None This fun and practical class is taught by Katy Turbeville, co-owner of the Yarn Adventure Truck, which travels the US offering an amazing selection of yarns from small businesses! The Yarn Adventure Truck will be set up in front of the Knot and Needle from 10-5, so stop in to shop their lovely yarns!
