Knitting for Kids!

Service Description

Knitting is a fun and creative activity and a valuable learning experience. It promotes fine motor skills, creativity, patience, and problem-solving abilities, all while providing a sense of accomplishment and self-expression. In this 2 hour class, we will introduce your child to the basics of casting on, yarn over, and single knit stitches. Our instructor is Rebecca Heid, and she is passionate about fiber arts and loves sharing that passion with others. She has taught classes for the Chattanooga Fiber Arts Guild and will be teaching Kumihimo and Dorset Buttons at Scenic Stitches Fiber Fest and Birchwood Fiber Festival this spring. She instructs older preschoolers twice a week at LMPC’s Mother’s Day out program, where she introduces many crafts that encourage sewing, weaving, and other fine motor skill training. She also teaches the Nimble Thimble’s enrichment class on Monday evenings at Ingleside, incorporating various skills from Kumihimo to crochet. She finds it so rewarding to see their enthusiasm for these crafts!
