Get more environmentally friendly with our reusable shopping bag class! Dive into the art of sewing using a machine and craft your own stylish tote bag with washable plastic lining. From uncut pieces of fabric to a finished piece, instructor Rebekah Hook will guide you through each step of the process. You'll not only learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine but also acquire valuable insights into fabric selection and basic stitching techniques. Join us for two hours of creative fun, where you'll leave with the skills to turn fabric into a shopping bag in no time! All materials are included. We have class machines here, but if you are more comfortable on your own machine, please feel free to bring it. Open to ages 12 (when accompanied by an adult who is also taking the class) to adult. This class is appropriate for those brand new to machine sewing! The instructor for this class is Rebekah Hook. Rebekah's father taught her how to sew when she was a kid. She used to make clothes for her dolls. She stopped sewing for years but during Covid, she started sewing masks for everyone at the school where she taught. She rediscovered her love of sewing during her time at home and has been sewing ever since. She loves making things as gifts for friends and making clothes for her daughter, nieces, and herself. Rebekah is a former high school teacher and loves sharing sewing with others.
