Lessons with Caleigh need to be booked at least 10 days in advance. Caleigh Bird was lucky enough to be taught how to sew at a very young age by her mom on a passed-down 1968 Singer. At around age 6 she began learning to sew basic clothes for her Barbie dolls using hand stitches, then graduated to making simple dresses and bags, and soon totally fell in love with her first bellbottom patchwork inserts on vintage jeans. By the time she was in eighth grade, Caleigh was regularly making and altering her own clothes... and hasn't stopped since! Caleigh is awesome at patchwork and altering clothes - both decorative and utilitarian! She can teach you all her tricks for layering on patchwork so you never have to throw away your favorite pair of pants, and can also teach you how to make fun seam inserts for pants or shorts, either lengthwise strips or triangle bell bottoms (which is also a great way to customize a pair of pants to fit you like a glove!). Caleigh is also available for a very thorough Beginner's Lesson on the fundamentals of hand stitching and machine sewing by teaching you to use your own machine or one here at the shop. You’ll be able to do simple alterations and make basic items after one intensive lesson.
